Importance of Innovation!

Hi folks,

Its been quite a busy time here at the Loft, working on several projects for our new clients. At the same time, we are working very hard to put our ‘violence of the new’ project into practice. The one thing that this project will focus on is innovation. Building a more innovative web-presence for our clients. We’ll talk about both of these things in more detail next week.

Corinthian Communications Breakfast

Thursday morning was a busy one for most business people in Glasgow, in addition to voting in the Scottish election, there were two exceptional networking events in and around the city. The first one was a special extended ‘business banter’ at Esquires Coffee Shop. Prior to this, the Corinthian Club presented their second Communications breakfast in their stunning venue. The speaker, Hoss Gifford gave a really interesting talk on innovation. One of the things that I enjoyed about the presentation was the potential of great innovation. Innovation is neither safe nor easy. However, if done properly, can elevate something good into something great. Great innovation is both inspirational and potentially more rewarding. One of the great pieces he spoke about was the promotional video for the Glasgow Commonwealth Games which he had a part in. Its an exceptional piece of work, so please check it out…

The Corinthian also proved to be an exceptional venue for the occassion, it is a stunningly beautiful venue with great facilities and a great morning breakfast.

The event was fully packed with more than 100 people attending and the event being held in the Langley Suite. One of a myriad of outrageously designed rooms in a club that is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Jaguar C-X75 Hybrid Supercar

Whilst on the subject of innovation. I cannot tell you how happy it makes me to see a great company like Jaguar release a car like this… As a marque, I absolutely love Jaguar. Everything it is about, everything it stands for. In a manner similar to Alfa Romeo, it has something that is just special, something I cant quite put my finger on but know exists. It has a unique history, with incredible cars such as the D-Type and MKII. I did a university group project for Jaguar when I was at Coventry University titled ‘Creating Heritage For The Future,’ Jaguar were still a little in the doldrums stylistically. It has been brilliant to see their renaisance, led by Ian Callum, with great looking and modern cars such as the XK, XF and XJ.

The new XC-75, is a proper Jaguar because it is forward looking in terms of engineering and design concept. It has a revolutionary hybrid powertrain that will supposedly propel the car to 0-60 mph in about 3 seconds. It’s very much ‘form follows innovation.’ Costing a cool 1.3 million dollars and with only 250 being made. This car is a special car that can only enhance a great marque.

Another example of the powers of innovation.

Have a great week folks…

Benedetto
